Life is full of questionable things.

My wife washes the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. She also cleans the house before the house cleaners come. Don’t even think of questioning her about it.

Americans keep spending more and more money on health and education and just keep getting fatter and dumber.

The Steele Dossier was an opposition hit piece funded by the Clinton campaign and used by the FBI, the DOJ and Congress to impeach and indict Donald Trump on charges everyone knew were bogus.

When a major league pitcher throws a ball in the dirt, the ball is tossed and the umpire provides the pitcher with a fresh one. The first thing the pitcher does with that fresh ball is rub dirt into it.

To make the Affordable Care Act law President Obama lied through his teeth about it, Congress passed it under an invalid clause and the Supreme Court upheld it as a tax, which it wasn’t.

None of these examples seem to make any sense, and yet, here we are.

Life is full of confusing events, debatable subjects and controversial topics. But cold-blooded murder should not be one of them. If there is one thing we should all be in agreement on — crystal clear on — it’s that murder is bad. Even worse than posting a picture of Rosie O’Donnell.

And yet, here we are. It’s hard to believe how many people seem to think that the cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk was in some way justified. By his words, no less.

Never mind thou shalt not kill, the criminal justice system and all that.

Remember when you were a kid and ran home crying to your mom over something someone called you at school. What did your mom tell you? Sticks and stones might break your bones but words will never hurt you.

Guess what? Your mom was right. Mom’s are pretty smart that way.

The first amendment is good. Questioning is good. Open debate is good. The socratic method is good — our entire civilization is built on it. But questioning should never lead to violence because violence is bad, and that should never be questioned.

Here are some other things that should never be questioned:

Words are not violence. Words should never incite violence. Civilized people do not respond to words with violence. Civilized people do not resort to violence under any circumstances, except in self defense response to violence — real, physical violence.

Likewise, and even more so, cold-blooded murder is bad. There are no caveats, what ifs or buts to qualify or make sense of it. Ever. Sane people do not commit murder. This should not be confusing, controversial or debatable. Period.
