“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” – Ecclesiastes 1:9

Raise your hand if you thought there was a snowball’s chance in hell of President Trump not getting impeached by House democrats. That’s what I thought.

Granted, this is just an impeachment investigation. In practical terms that’s not a whole lot different than what the Dems have been doing since the day Hillary lost. If I had to guess, I’d say Speaker Pelosi is just doing this to pacify progressive radicals in her caucus and has no intention of seeing it through to impeachment, but that’s just me.

So, I read the transcript of Trump’s call with Ukrainian president Zelensky. Love that name, Zelensky. It’s just so, well, Ukrainian. Anyhow, there really is no there there. No quid pro quo, no arm twisting, nada. That is, unless investigators can connect Trump’s freezing of $391 million in aid to Ukraine and releasing it two months later to the call. Seems like a bridge too far if you ask me.

Don’t get me wrong. Trump shouldn’t even be speaking the name Biden – or any other political opponent for that matter – to a foreign leader before an election. It just looks bad. Besides, there’s simply no point. It’s Trump’s reelection to lose. But if he keeps making unforced errors like this, that could change in a heartbeat. Besides, my concern is Elizabeth Warren, not Joe Biden.

But high crimes and misdemeanors? Nah.

I don’t know about you, but to me the last three years have been characterized by progressives running around with their hair on fire screaming collusion, obstruction and impeachment every time Trump talks, tweets or farts. It’s annoying. It’s tedious. More than anything, it’s bad for America because, politically, nothing gets done. Washington gridlock. Congressional gridlock. A condition Americans have come to know all too well.

Imagine if you and I could get paid for doing nothing but stopping each other from getting anything done. Yeah, right. We wouldn’t get paid; we’d get fired. But not Congress. They don’t get fired; they get reelected. Again and again. Whether they do their jobs or not.

Back to impeachment, you know this was a fait accompli – not just since Trump took office but from the moment he was elected. There was zero chance he would get through his first term in peace. Zero chance. First the Mueller nothingburger, now this Ukraine BS. And if it doesn’t happen during this term, it’ll happen in the next, assuming he’s reelected.

Don’t get me wrong. Trump does this to himself. Granted, he won the election because he’s not a polished politician, but still. He pushes the boundaries just a bit too far. To him, it’s logical to wonder why he’s being investigated for no reason and the bad people aren’t being investigated for any reason. But then, nothing is logical in DC. Least of all the Trump-deranged Dems, who can’t seem to stop themselves from screwing up the nation, even though they know that’s exactly what they’re doing.

My take-away from all of this? There’s nothing new under the sun. Congress is freaking worthless. They don’t get squat done for you and me. And that’s all I have to say about that.
